A leaf transformed into pottery and Colorado skies glowing in acrylic paint are bringing spring indoors for Gallery 113's latest exhibit.

“Reflections on Nature†showcases the work of 19 artists, including Jane Hammoud and Suzy McDowell, whose pottery and acrylic paintings celebrate the renewal of springtime.

The free exhibit will be highlighted during First Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at 125 N. Tejon St., where visitors can meet the artists while enjoying complimentary wine and chocolate.

Hammoud's pottery pieces draw inspiration directly from nature, with her featured piece, “Rhubarb Leaf,†transforming the shape of a spring leaf into a functional ceramic bowl.

“I'm fascinated by the shapes of nature: leaves, flowers, grasses, etc., and I love playing with glazes to create unique colors,†Hammoud said. “This rhubarb leaf gave me the opportunity to play with both, creating a piece that can be used functionally as a shallow bowl for fruit or just decoratively on a stand.â€

Meanwhile, McDowell's acrylic paintings shimmer with reflective landscapes inspired by Colorado scenery, including her piece “Atmosphere Glow.â€

“The Colorado sky, mountains and forests inspire my expressive paintings with the visions and reflections I see in nature,†McDowell said. “My goal is to show my love for nature and to share it with those guests who come into our gallery each day, especially on First Friday when I can enjoy talking with those interested in my views and process.â€

The exhibit will be available for viewing throughout the month of June.
