FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The City of Fort Wayne’s annual street line painting program is set to begin next week.
According to city officials, the program “enhances visibility and safety on our roadways” and is essential road safety maintenance.
City officials are advising drivers to exercise extreme caution when encountering Traffic Operations Department crews throughout the program’s duration.
Leaders remind drivers of the following safety measures: – DO NOT drive over wet paint lines (yellow or white). Crossing wet paint can damage your vehicle, spread paint to unintended areas, and create a hazard for other drivers. – Reduce speed when approaching and driving near line painting crews. – Maintain a safe following distance from the painting equipment. – Obey all traffic control devices and personnel directing traffic around the work area. – Be aware that cones or other markers may not be placed on every wet stripe, so it is crucial to avoid driving over any freshly painted lines. – Even if the paint truck isn’t visible, lines may still be wet and motorists should avoid driving over them.
