An inmate was taken back into custody after officials said he briefly escaped while picking up items for an upcoming work release program. On Sunday, Butler State Police said in a release that they were called to the Fairground Market in Prospect Borough before 11 a.m. following reports of an escaped convict. The caller told police that 33-year-old Dustin Miller was out on a four-hour furlough from the Mercer County Jail to pick up items for an upcoming work release program. While stopping at the Fairground Market, Miller ran into the tree line in the area with a tan grocery bag of clothing. Police said in the release that Miller was due to return to the Mercer County Jail by noon. He is currently incarcerated for fleeing and attempting to elude police for a one to three-year sentence.
