Thousands of people gathered in downtown Grand Rapids to participate in the twelfth annual Blue Bridge Walk for Autism hosted by Hope Network. In 2025, around two thousand people attended, but this year saw a record-breaking turnout of around 2,500 individuals coming out to raise awareness. Families crossed the bridge and then gathered at the Grand Rapids Public Museum for sensory-friendly activities. Mother Jessenia Bowen expressed appreciation for the event, stating that it benefited her son and many other children. Hope Network’s President and CEO, Bob Von Kaenel, highlighted the increasing prevalence of autism diagnoses, with one in 31 kids being diagnosed today. The event provided a sense of community and understanding for families dealing with autism. Participants valued the opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences. Overall, the event was seen as an important gathering for families to feel supported and accepted.
