CORDES LAKES, AZ (AZFamily) – Search for Missing Camper in Verde Valley

Search and rescue teams are looking for a Verde Valley man who went camping by himself and never returned.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office reported that Mark Eric Young left Thursday for a solo camping trip along Bloody Basin Road off Interstate 17.

Young is a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs 165 lbs. He was driving a rented Kia SUV and took Forest Roads 269, 16, and 16A.

He was supposed to meet a family friend for dinner on Friday in Verde Valley, but he never showed up. His family reported him missing Friday evening, prompting search crews to start looking for him around 9 p.m. that night.

On Saturday, law enforcement found Young’s vehicle on Forest Road 16 in Yavapai County.
