INTERVIEW – Promoted to honorary patron, the creator of the Fimalac group and regular supporter of culture explains his commitment to the Musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac.

LE FIGARO. – Ten years ago, you gave 38 major pieces from Africa and OceaniaQuai Branly-Jacques Chirac museum. This ensemble constitutes the largest donation of its kind made to France since 1945 and can now be admired in a dedicated gallery of the museum. Why?

Marc Ladreit De Lacharrie. – The presentation in individualized display cases in front of which we can sit means that we perhaps appreciate their plastic qualities more than elsewhere in addition to their extreme heritage value with their prestigious pedigree. This leading collection aims to be at the crossroads of artistic, anthropological and historical perspectives. Besides, it only occupies half of the west mezzanine. The other is devoted to temporary exhibitions, the production of which I finance as well as the associated research work.
