The Chansonyme association is organizing the 5th edition of the Tave festival from June 18 to 21 in Uzège. An event which promotes creative French song and which is part of the local heritage.
The Tave festival has become essential in Uzège. A few days before the launch of its 5e edition (June 18 to 21), many locals were already getting impatient. “We have a real establishment after 5 years. Today, people ask us when it starts, they wait for the festival. We find a little enthusiasm and a real loyalty”underlines Benoit Marc, former Bagnolais and president of the Chansonyme association which organizes the festival.
Today, this event which promotes creative French song and which is part of the heritage, seeks to develop even more locally. “Everything that is done during the festival is done outside, in the village squares. We want to resurrect these famous squares where less happens than before. We want to bring culture to people and live together”.
An intergenerational festival
For this new edition, Chansonyme created a project with students from the Pougnadoresse and Cavillargues schools. They will also be the ones to open the festival. “We want it to be intergenerational, with people who don’t necessarily have the means to go see concerts during the year”indicates Claudine Marc, also a member of the association. Several artists will also go to the Tave schools on Thursday afternoon to present their work and sing songs with the students.
In addition to the School Choir, women will also be honored on the stages of the Festival de la Tave this year. “We realized that we had a lot of men in French songs. We said to ourselves that we needed women, that’s why we’ll find at least one woman on stage every night”adds Benoit Marc.
Alongside the concerts, the festival organizes numerous activities and workshops. A guitar masterclass will be offered every morning from Friday to Sunday with Joël Gombert. “It’s open to amateurs and experienced players. The objective is to perform a song in front of Joël who will then give advice on how to improve it. It’s a sort of individual lesson”.
A common music festival
Then for the first time, a rhythm and voice workshop will also be planned for Sunday, June 21 at 3 p.m. with Anthony Sauveur. “It’s more accessible to the general public than the masterclass”. Both workshops are subject to registration.
At the end of the festival, a show will be offered for the music festival at La Bruguière. The objective is to bring together the inhabitants of the four villages which will host the festival (Saint-Laurent-la-Vernède, La Bastide d’Engras, Pougnadoresse and La Bruguière). “We would like to meet here, the music festival will be there for everyone, this also avoids competition”.
For this closing concert, Cheval 2 Trois, the duo formed by Benoit and Claudine Marc will obviously be on stage, accompanied by friends such as the Chœur Brassens de Sète or Locomotives.
