Meeting with a Ukrainian artist who wishes to pursue her profession in Decazeville.

Art knows no borders, its language is universal. Kristina Pazukas is proof of that.

Kristina arrived in Rodez in March 2022, shortly after the start of the war and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with her two children who are now 8 and 12 years old. She expresses herself well in the language of Molière, even if her accent betrays her Eastern European origins.

“We lived in Rodez for three years. And, for the past year, we have settled in Decazeville, in the Nantuech district, after meeting a friend with whom we launched a joint project. My children are safe, have made friends and speak French well now,” explains the refugee.
She thinks about the war every day, especially since the neighborhood where she lived, in kyiv, was recently bombed, particularly the market and the market halls.

Painting the beauties of the world

But life continues with its torments, its anxieties, and moments of hope too. Her passion is painting and drawing, which have accompanied Kristina since she was very little.

In kyiv, as an adult, she loved to travel and transcribe on her paintings the beauties of the world, natural and urban landscapes, flowers, animals… while refining the various techniques that she managed to master…: acrylic, oil, watercolor. She also gave painting lessons, especially for children.
Since living in Aveyron, she has reproduced views of Decazeville including the town hall and Notre-Dame church, Figeac, Conques, Rodez, Estaing as well as landscapes with, among others, the captivating Aubrac.

One of his predilections is to paint details in small villages…; When she sees something out of the ordinary, she sketches it straight away. “I love your country, the Basin and its surroundings. You know how to manage your heritage and most villages try to highlight their historical and architectural heritage,” she confides.
After an escapade in Hérault, she depicted on one of her canvases the house of the Commanders, in Pézénas, occupied by the Templars in the 12th and 13th centuries.

She created her small business

But the neo-Decazevilloise wants to go further and she created her small business, called “Pazuart”, which allows her to give courses and sell her production. She has reproduced some of her paintings in postcard format, which are just as superb.
Kristina Pazukas teaches illustration, mural painting, floral design, graphic design and gives art classes. Don’t hesitate to contact her to carry out your artistic project or take up a new hobby. And she plans to participate in exhibitions and get closer to local actors in terms of art and animation.
