Mâcon Infos – Le Web Journal du Mâconnais – MÂCON: The MJC des Blanchettes celebrates half a century of commitment, sharing and culture

It was at the Parc des Allumettes, under a beautiful sun and a mild spring, that the MJC des Blanchettes celebrated its 50th anniversary in a beautiful atmosphere this Saturday, June 6.

On the program: activities for children, dances and concerts enhanced the day before the official speeches expected at the start of the evening.

First of all, it was the vice-president of the MJC Guy Lentz who opened the official ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the MJC.

He thanked all the founding members and the personalities present.

In his speech, he retraced the history of the MJC.

“The Maisons des Jeunes et de la Culture were born in the post-war period, in a context of reconstruction with the desire to restore an important place to popular education, culture, youth and citizen participation.

Their history dates back to the Liberation with the creation, in 1944, of the Youth Republic resulting from youth movements, unions and resistance movements. From the start, the objective was clear: to allow everyone to take responsibility, to get involved, to train, to open up to others and to actively participate in collective life.

Over the years, MJCs have developed throughout France, in towns and rural areas. They have become places of meeting, learning, culture, leisure, debate, solidarity and living together.

They have always carried essential values: openness to others, diversity, tolerance, participation, respect, transmission between generations, access to culture for all and civic engagement.

We find these values fully here, at the MJC des Blanchettes.

The MJC des Blanchettes is not just a building… It’s a house where we sometimes enter for an activity, but where we often find much more: listening, meeting people, conviviality, support, trust and a real family atmosphere.”

The vice-president praised the remarkable work of the MJC staff, its director as well as all the volunteers before recalling the importance of the support of the City of Mâcon.

And to conclude with these words: “The history of the MJC des Blanchettes is that of a collective adventure, carried by generations of volunteers, professionals, members, families, partners and citizens driven by the desire to build a place that is fairer, more open, more creative and more solidarity. »

The founding members of the MJC spoke in turn:José Martinez, Danielle Jault and Lucienne Guittat (Dudu).

Danielle’s speech was full of great emotion.

She testified as a founding member of the MJC association, a volunteer then employed with the function of animating secretary in this establishment from 1993 to 2008.

She submitted the statutes of the association under the name “MJC Percée Sud” to the prefecture of Mâcon on February 24, 1975. The MJC was at the time located in a building in prefabricated building erected by then mayor Louis Escande in 1966.

Danièle paid tribute to all the people she met within the institution.

She concluded her speech by sending a message to young people coming to the MJC:

“At a time of attempts to divide and separate the population, resist, in your time, with digital tools. Try not to let collective intelligence be transferred to the tech giants! I trust you! Never abandon brotherhood and solidarity. »

Representatives of the national federation of MJCs of France Laurent Costy and of the regional federation of MJCs Pierre Vian also spoke before giving the floor to the mayor of Mâcon, the deputy for the 1st constituency and the deputy prefect and chief of staff.
