He made an appointment, in the…
He arranged to meet in the Vaugouin-Saint-Maurice district, between the Berthelot school and the premises of the League for the Protection of Birds. Nothing to do with culture, his new delegation, but it is symbolic: Thierry Tougeron lives a street further away, he teaches and is particularly sensitive to environmental subjects. À 53 years old, he has been on the 9th for three monthse deputy in charge of culture, in the new majority of mayor Olivier Falorni. “I was very happy that he gave me this confidence. This is a very important position. Culture builds individuals and ideas,” he believes.
Many Rochelais know his face. Based in La Rochelle for around fifteen years, he teaches life and earth sciences at the Léonce-Vieljeux high school, where he is also a trainer. For several years, he chronicled the cultural life of La Rochelle via his media “Entre nous cultures”. Author of novels and scientific poetry, it was during a book fair that he first met the future mayor Olivier Falorni.
Six years in opposition
He has just spent six years on the opposition benches in the Le Renouveau group, alongside Franck Coupeau and Aya Koffi. “Six years of fighting to defend certain themes that are dear to me: revegetation, the distribution of subsidies, urban planning… We worked to be credible,” he sums up. So here he is taking a new step.
