Leham? The word means “to life” in Hebrew. A way for the organizers of this Aix festival launched in 2025 to celebrate “meeting, dialogue and cultural beauty“in diversity, in a societal climate where anti-Semitism has experienced an unprecedented outbreak for three years.
“We wanted to take the opposite view of everything that conflates Jewish identity with geopolitics. Because in the media, there are a lot of very divisive things that are relayed, estimates Sabrina Aouizerate, co-organizer with Jessy Bloch and Benjamin Bitane. Between Judaism, Zionism and the Israeli government, everything is mixed. So owanted to contribute to reworking living together, saying to ourselves that for that we already had to learn to know each other. The cultural lever seemed to us to be a great way to do it, with the idea of not talking about politics or religion, but of talking about culture and showing all the plurality and beauty of Jewish cultures and values.“
