The mayor of Boulazac, Fanny Castaignède, wrote to Patrick Bruel to ask him to cancel his concert planned for November at Arena Le Palio Périgord, the largest performance and events hall in the Dordogne. “I did it because I think it was fair to the victims, the fans and me.”explains the elected official on ICI Périgord Friday May 29. “It was important for me to say that I believe these women”she continues, calling for “an awareness” spectators, she assures.

Fanny Castaignède has no illusions. “I don’t think he’s going to cancel at all.”she judges. “I think he doesn’t feel too concerned about what’s happening”says the elected official who explains being “favorable to the cancellation of his concert and his tour”.

The elected official assures that she has no “no power to cancel”. According to her, the management of the performance hall which can accommodate up to 6,500 spectators also has limited room for maneuver. “Beyond the financial aspect, since when you reject a concert, you have to pay”she said, the owners of the Palio also take the risk of “no more shows”. “The tour operators if we refuse them a concert, they will no longer come”assures Fanny Castaignède.

If the concert is nevertheless maintained, “I will feel angry”explains the elected official who assures that she will participate in demonstrations in opposition to the singer if she can. “There may be an extraordinary artist, but that does not make the man”she concludes by comparing Patrick Bruel to Bertrand Cantat, convicted of the murder in 2003 of Marie Trintignant.
