From May 17 to June 7, the Tala association of Mont-Saint-Martin, whose main objective is to share Berber culture, opens its doors to exhibit its activities and creations. Explanations with Kader Agguini, the facilitator of the structure based at the Taos-Amrouche house, rue de Verdun.
“This event takes place as part of the Berber Spring. The idea is to show Berber culture, but also Algerian culture, often absent from the education of young French people, while they learn many things from other countries in the world. We will take the opportunity to show what we do, such as gardening in our shared garden on rue de La-Réole which provides us with vegetables for our cooking workshops, and our creations. »
Pottery and clothing
“That’s why all those interested will be able to come and see our library in our premises, but also the pottery that we make here. They are made of clay, which we buy from a small craftsman in Saint-Léger, in Belgium. These are utensils that are used in the kitchen, for example plates or jars, but also candlesticks, etc. We will also highlight our Kabyle rugs, which we also create in our premises. There will also be what women do at home, like Berber belts made of wool, or dresses. We will offer demonstrations.”
