Cinema is going through a period of profound transformation. The balances which have long structured the sector are questioned, and the answers to be constructed require collective intelligence, anchored in the realities of each territory. The Regions, which have dedicated 140 million euros to the sector in 2024, have the legitimacy and responsibility to contribute to this construction, as co-architects of public cinema policies.

It is with this in mind that the Culture Commission of the Regions of France has conducted, throughout 2025, a cycle of hearings as part of its “Funding and support for cinema” working group. These meetings made it possible to fuel in-depth reflection which led Régions de France to formulate a structured position on public cinema policies.

Régions de France is today publishing the summaries of these four meetings:

  • Hearing of professional cinema organizationsÂ: the ARP (Civil Society of Authors-Directors-Producers), the SPI (Union of Independent Producers), the ACID (Association of Independent Cinema for its Diffusion), the SRF (Society of Film Directors) and the FACC (Federation of Cinematographic Cultural Action) –July 16, 2025.
  • Rafael MAESTRO Audition (Director of the Ciné Passion en Périgord association),Âby Pauline CHASSERIEAU (Directrice générale de l’ACAP Pôle régional images des Hauts-de-France) and Philippe GERMAIN (Directeur général de Ciclic, Centre-Val de Loire) –ÂSeptember 11, 2025.
