American President Donald Trump declared on Sunday that the United States has already begun taking steps to control the Strait of Hormuz in the context of the war against Iran.
During an interview with the Israeli Channel 14, he was asked about Washington’s ability to control this strategic maritime route, to which he responded: “Yes, of course, it is already happening.”
Trump also highlighted what he described as close coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Iran. “The coordination is very tight. We have good relations. They couldn’t be better,” he said.
He also mentioned that he believes Iran truly wants to reach an agreement. “I think they really want it. Anyone would want an agreement if they were getting decimated, right?” he said.
The United States and Israel have been carrying out airstrikes against Iran since February 28, resulting in more than 1,340 deaths so far, including the former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting American military facilities, causing casualties and infrastructure damage, while also disrupting global markets and aviation.
