In the Champions League (quarterfinals), CS Gloria Bistrița (ROU) – Brest Bretagne Handball, April 18 and 26
Brest Bretagne Handball avoids the only team that had beaten them at Arena this season. The Danish team from Ikast, which had won in Finistère on January 17 (35-37), was eliminated by CS Gloria Bistrița (72-62 in both matches combined).
If the first leg was very close (35-34), the return leg left no doubt. On Saturday, CS Gloria Bistrița won convincingly at home against Ikast (37-28). Thanks to this victory, the Romanian club led by Spaniard Carlos Viver will face Brest in the Champions League quarterfinals. The first leg will take place on Saturday, April 18 in Romania, and the return leg on Sunday, April 26 at Arena.
Ahead of CSM Bucharest
Brest will have to be wary of the Romanian team, 4th in their group, and especially their left back Danila So Delgado, the second top scorer in the Champions League with 104 goals, behind Henny Reistad (114 goals). In the league, the Romanian club is in top form after notably defeating CSM Bucharest (18-21 on March 16).
Second in their Champions League group behind Brest, CSM was on a streak of 18 games without defeat, including a large victory over BBH (40-34). For the Brest team, they will have to navigate through this tough match-up to reach the second Final Four in their history.
