End clap for Cinéma de pays, the association broadcasting films on the move in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence

It’s a saga that ends after 30 seasons, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The Cinéma de pays association, which offers itinerant access to the Seventh Art, will cease its activities at the end of the 2026 summer season.

Founded in 1996, Cinéma de pays travels to around thirty municipalities in the department and broadcasts films recently released at the box office, at a price of six euros. It thus installs its video projectors and sound installations in the multipurpose rooms of villages far from city centers and their dark rooms. In the summer, the traveling tour is paused to make way for open-air cinema. The principle is the same and generally attracts crowds.

The association also manages the cinema programming at the Moulin Saint-André in Vinon-sur-Verdon, in the Var.

With a solid reputation in the region, Cinéma de pays is not, however, spared from the difficulties.
