The FC L’Isle-Jourdain managed to snatch a draw against Saint-Nicolas (2-2), despite being behind in the score and in numerical inferiority, on Friday, March 27.
After a good draw against third-placed Sainte-Christie Preignan last week, FC L’Isle-Jourdain faced harsh conditions due to the return of cold weather during the match, which affected the pace of the game.
The visitors seemed more threatening than the hosts, but failed to truly endanger the Lislois goalkeeper, with only one significant save needed at the 33rd minute.
Six minutes later, Marcant scored a goal for FC L’Isle-Jourdain, taking advantage of a defensive play by Sere, to lead 1-0 at the 39th minute. The first half ended with this scoreline.
In the second half, the visitors increased the pressure and managed to equalize through the striker exploiting a defensive lapse from Lislois to make it 1-1 at the 54th minute. The situation worsened as Lislois conceded another goal at the 59th minute and Fois received a second yellow card, reducing the team to ten players.
Despite the setback, FC L’Isle-Jourdain managed to level the score at 2-2 with a seemingly accidental goal by Sabi at the 76th minute. The match ended in a draw, with both teams having opportunities to change the outcome.
Captain Nicolas Comère summed up the match as a reflection of their irregular season, acknowledging the challenges faced but expressing optimism for improvement in the coming weeks.
The final result leaves FC L’Isle-Jourdain in a good position for maintenance in the league, with a two-week break ahead. The team aims to build on their current spirit for a more consistent performance in the future.
