Saudi journalist Khaled Al-Shneif has come to the defense of national team captain Salem Al-Dossari after the wave of criticism followed the 1-1 draw against Uruguay on the opening day of the 2026 World Cup.
Al-Dossari has in fact been the subject of a campaign of virulent criticism for several days, and some voices are even calling for his exclusion from the starting eleven for the match against Spain on Sunday evening.

In the program “Dorina Ghir”, he declared: “I do not understand these exaggerated attacks against Salem Al-Dossari. It is true that he did not meet expectations against Uruguay
He added: “Despite these criticisms, Al-Dosari remains the only player capable of making a difference for us. Criticism against him has turned into insults and personal attacks, which should not happen: he is a player on our national team and we must support him on the international stage. HAS”
He concluded: “The match against Spain promises to be difficult, and we must preserve all our players to obtain a positive result. HAS”
