The evening promises to be scorching like every year for the Music Festival in Rennes. And even more so this Sunday for the first day of summer when the Breton capital will turn into a furnace with 36°C expected and a feeling of 41°C at the end of the day. You will therefore have to take it easy on the drink if you want to fully enjoy the party because the program promises to be copious. 20 Minutes has put together a small musical selection for you.

A tribute to Kate Bush at Place Hoche

The young generation discovered their hit Running Up That Hill while devouring the Netflix series Stranger Things. Pop singer with a unique voice and music icon in the 1980s, Kate Bush will be in the spotlight this Sunday at Place Hoche. For a little over an hour, the Rennes group Waking The Witch will pay tribute to him by covering his repertoire and the choreography of his legendary music video Wuthering Heights. Students from the choreographic workshops organized at the Polyblosne since January will join the party to properly honor the British artist. From 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Place Hoche.

A musical journey in three stops at Place de la Gare

Three places, three atmospheres and just one party. This is the concept of Escales Musicales which will be held for the first time in three bars and restaurants on Place de la Gare. We start at the Terminus which welcomes the atypical duo Muzikat followed by a festive DJ set. Then head to Casa Caliente to dance to Latin music. And we end the trip at Villa Tredici to hum the great hits of Italian song. From 5 p.m. to midnight at Place de la Gare.

New-wave et post-punk à La Piste

Every year it offers one of the most beautiful sets of the evening. The La Piste bar is pulling out all the stops with four groups who will take turns on the stage set up on the mall. On the bill: the afro-pop of Gombocats, the post-punk-disco of Lézard, a Belgian group which will make its first date in Brittany, the new wave burlesque of Tentative, new musical project of Saxa Goth from the group La Femme, and finally the electro-pop of Mac & Wester. From 5 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., 68, mail François-Mitterrand.

The “Children’s Boom” in Baud-Chardonnet

So that children can also have fun and party, a “boom” is dedicated to them from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Terrasses du Vertugadin, just opposite the Baud-Chardonnet district. A participatory fresco, creative workshops and a whole host of concerts are also planned, including rock, coldwave, ska and jazz concerts. From 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The party also in the metropolis from this Friday

It’s not just Rennes that celebrates music on Sunday. In several towns in the metropolis, the party will even take place on Friday and Saturday so as not to compete. This will be the case in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande where three stages (acoustics, orchestras and current music) will be installed in the city center. In Thorigné-Fouillard, two places to have fun this Saturday with the Place de l’Europe and the Human Rights Esplanade.
