Musical eclecticism on the Zone 51 stage
For the third consecutive year, the Zone 51 association is offering a stage for the Music Festival at Place Kubler in Sélestat. “The idea was to return to the spirit of the event,” explains Guy Pétillon, in charge of the Bas-Rhin Sud contemporary music resource center for Zone 51.
To build the program, the association launched a call for applications. “We received 101 proposals,” he emphasizes. Applications sometimes came from far away: “There were groups from the Paris region, from Lyon and even from Paris.” Despite everything, the objective was not to bring groups from the other side of France to perform in Sélestat.
Carte blanche to volunteers
During the listening and selection evening, carte blanche was given to the volunteers, whether they were on the board of directors or active members. “The programming is meant to be eclectic,” says Guy Pétillon. It also had to be accessible to the general public, with amateur projects in the development phase.
In total, six groups will perform from the end of the afternoon. At 5:30 p.m., the only non-amplified musical project, the eco-feminist choir Les Allumettes, will open the ball. Then, from 6 p.m., there will be The Marmor, a young independent rock group from Strasbourg.
Punk, metal a rap
At 7:10 p.m., the more experienced Toys Breakers, who come from Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, will arrive with their punk-rock set. At 8:20 p.m., the female duo Symbioz will offer their engaging and humorous songs. From 9:30 p.m., it’s time for the muscular rock-metal of Perpetual Escape. Finally, to end the evening, Cl4ve, a Chilean artist recently established in Strasbourg, will offer a mix of rap and electro with South American influences.
