The police arrested a second individual suspected of having taken part in an altercation on Tuesday June 16, in the Pin district. This man, who intervened to defend his wife, allegedly grabbed a bladed weapon which the officials have not yet got their hands on.
The Pin district, in Agen, was once again the scene of quite a commotion. A dispute between two women – linked to a collision in a car or a parking space, this is still unclear – turned into a fistfight late in the afternoon on Tuesday June 16. Taken away by the national police, one of the participants in the fight finally left the police station, free, a few hours later.
Another individual, suspected of having displayed a bladed weapon, in this case a machete, as reported by witnesses to the scene – which is also confirmed by video surveillance images – was arrested in the evening, around 9 p.m. The latter would have arrived on the scene, accompanied by other individuals, at the request of his partner, telling him that she had just been bothered by a couple. His custody is, at this time, still in progress, although the weapon was not found on site by the police.
The police must focus on defining the roles of each person in this altercation, during which blows were allegedly exchanged on both sides, before considering possible legal proceedings. Other hearings are to be expected. Initiated during class on July 14, the altercation spilled over inside the “La Porte du Pain” bakery, causing unrest in the business.
