Kristina and Philippe Holmes present a program of Latin-American music. Kristina explains: “We explore a rich and varied repertoire, ranging from classical music to current songs, while nurturing our artistic sensibility through musical research inspired by the traditions of different countries.” Discovered in Vallespir by Ian Stephens, president of the Association for culture and the arts, Kristina combines a pianist training, possesses a mezzo-soprano voice and excels in playing the guitar. Her experience? Years in the conservatory, a repertoire of operas, concerts, encounters and jazz, blues, pop, rock and South American music.
Philippe Holmes, born in Stuttgart, grew up in Washington, studied at the university, composed, played and produced music ranging from classical to hip-hop, directed bands from Washington to Los Angeles, before settling in New Mexico and developing a repertoire for classical guitar inspired by that of Andrés Segovia. Arriving in France in 2011, he gives recitals of classical guitar in churches, ventures into pop rock, discovers music from the East, and becomes interested in the musical rhythms of Spain and gypsy culture, before returning to the United States. In 2020, he returned to Vallespir and has been performing with Les rural suspects.
This duo, who performed at Casa Cap d’Ona in Céret, will present their concert program.
