This star of the 2010s, drugged, raped and kidnapped in full success, announces his return to singing

She had not appeared on the public stage for years. Welsh singer Duffy, known for her hit Mercyreleased in 2008, announced on social networks, Tuesday May 19, 2026, its return to the studio. An event for the 41-year-old woman who has suffered severe trauma in the past.

The absence of a pop star

The announcement is sober: on her Instagram account, Duffy published a photo of herself, seated from behind, in a recording studio. “If only I could find the right words to explain how much I missed you. I’m working to get back to you“, she wrote in the caption of the black and white photo.

The artist had not expressed herself publicly, nor had she had any projects for around fifteen years. But Duffy’s absence was never explained and had caused perplexity among her fans, until she spoke out in 2020 and revealed the reasons for her disappearance from the stage.

A return after years of fighting

In February 2020, Duffy created a stir by revealing on his Instagram account having been “raped, drugged and kidnapped for a few days”. In a post, now deleted, which was relayed by the press, she declared: “Many of you wondered what had become of me, where I had disappeared and why […] The truth is, and believe me, I’m ok and safe now, but I was raped, drugged and held captive for a few days. I survived. It took me a while to recover“. 

She assured herself that she had promised herself during the last decade “to want to feel the sun shining in [son] heart and the sun shine now.”

The singer had already written a long text on her website in which she returned to her ordeal. She explained that she had been drugged in a restaurant on her birthday, then kidnapped at home and taken abroad. After surviving, she had suicidal thoughts and lived isolated for several years, cut off from her family, before therapy allowed her to get her head out of the water.

His story will soon be made public on a wider scale. According to the Guardiana documentary in which Duffy recounts his ordeal in detail will soon be broadcast on Disney+.
