In recent years, the military has modernized its communication, especially in terms of recruitment. Action film-style ads, as well as events: “in an increasingly competitive job market, the Air and Space Army is consolidating and strengthening its recruitment goals. This involves the implementation of innovative approaches and tools capable of identifying, attracting, and retaining the talents essential to the success of its missions,” the ministry states. Hence the creation of this Experience Alpha fair, a combination of orientation fair and immersive event, whose first edition was held in March 2024, and is now taking place in Nice for its 6th edition.
Simulator of flight, drone…
Experience Alpha offers young people aged 15 to 29 “a unique opportunity to explore the exciting world of aviators.” In Nice, visitors will discover six areas: sports preparation, commando riflemen, intelligence, aeronautical maintenance, air traffic control, and piloting. Each stand will offer an immersive activity with the promise of a “unique experience“: training with sports instructors, preparing for missions with commando riflemen, planning an operation with intelligence experts, guiding an airplane, or learning to fly on a simulator.
A centerpiece of this Niçois edition is a 4×3 meter model of a medium-altitude long-endurance drone, with educational animations and visuals of the professions that allow for drone flight.
In addition to these activities, visitors will be able to interact with aviators from the Istres base who will share their daily lives. Recruitment advisors will also be present to provide information on the professional opportunities offered by the Air and Space Army.
More than 4,000 positions to be filled, including 600 for the National Service
With or without a high school diploma, the army is recruiting. “Throughout their career, each aviator can progress through internal competitions and qualifying training.” This year, the Air and Space Army is offering more than 4,000 positions to be filled (including 600 in the new National Service) in over 50 professions and 13 fields of activity.
