The Eurodeputy Reconquest assures that in the event of the success of the boss of Horizons, she would withdraw, without supporting him. However, she does not believe that the mayor of Le Havre will accept the principle of such a primary. If the municipal elections have just ended, the focus is already set on the 2027 presidential election. The idea of a primary to designate a single candidate from the right and center for this opportunity is dividing the political class. Marine Le Pen stated on Thursday, March 26, that she “doesn’t believe” in such a union. On the contrary, some contenders are in favor, such as Laurent Wauquiez, David Lisnard, or Sarah Knafo, a former Reconquest candidate for the mayor of Paris, who expressed her support for such initiative to give a “direction to the right”. When asked about the possibility of a successful primary for Edouard Philippe, Sarah Knafo assured that she would respect the decision of the French people and withdraw, but she would not “support or campaign” for him. “Anyway, I don’t think Edouard Philippe would participate in this potential primary because he knows he won’t have a chance,” said the Eurodeputy. The voters “will choose someone from the right” and that Reconquest represented this right: “we have right-wing convictions,” said Sarah Knafo, directly referring to the National Rally: “I read Jordan Bardella who said that, in the same way, he did not believe in the union of the right, that his movement was neither left nor right, that it went beyond all that. We will take his word for it on this point.” “I hope that Eric Zemmour will present himself,” said the former candidate for municipal elections. The RN represents a socializing economic line, as we have seen in the National Assembly. Whereas, if I were to describe our positioning today, I would say that we are loyal to both the egalitarian aspirations of the RN electorate and, at the same time, to the economic aspirations of the LR electorate. Sarah Knafo assures that she is “at an equal distance” regarding egalitarianism, “that is, on the fight against mass immigration, on strengthened security, on a much firmer national policy and the total reversal of this lax system” and on the economic level. However, the Eurodeputy remained vague about the future candidate of Reconquest for the presidential election, simply stating: “I hope that Eric Zemmour will present himself.”
