Vietnam and Austria are strengthening cooperation to comprehensively improve the capabilities of their foreign affairs officials.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Europe, on June 10, Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Le Thai Hoang met with Dr. Martin Eichtinger, director of the Austrian Diplomatic Academy, to discuss promoting cooperation in training and capacity building of foreign affairs officials of the two countries. country, in a global, modern manner and in accordance with international standards.

Vienna, the capital, is one of the world’s largest centers of multilateral diplomacy and the birthplace of the Vienna Conventions, which form the foundation of global diplomacy, law and trade.

Founded in 1964, the Austrian Diplomatic Academy is one of Europe’s leading institutions for diplomatic training and international relations, managed by a board of directors chaired by a Deputy Foreign Minister.

During the meeting, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang provided information on the overall foreign policy direction of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in which the need to train a comprehensive, modern and professional diplomatic workforce in line with international standards is a key priority.

Within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Austria, the ambassador proposed that the Austrian Diplomatic Academy strengthen its cooperation with the Vietnamese Diplomatic Academy in terms of research, organization of seminars, exchanges of students and experiences in the training of diplomats. He also invited Austria to send representatives to participate in major forums hosted by Vietnam, such as the ASEAN Future Forum, the Mekong Forum and the International Conference on the South China Sea.

Dr. Martin Eichtinger expressed admiration for Vietnam’s socio-economic and foreign policy achievements, recognizing that the need to train and continually improve the quality of foreign officials plays a role decisive.

Dr Martin said the Austrian Foreign Service Academy has four faculties: international relations, international history, international economics and international law and European Union. It currently welcomes students from 64 countries and offers certification courses in international relations, masters in international studies, environmental technologies and international relations, digital international relations, as well as doctorates in international studies.

The Austrian Diplomatic Academy wishes to cooperate with the Vietnamese Diplomatic Academy, promoting the joint organization of seminars on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), training activities, capacity building of foreign affairs officials of the two countries, as well as exchanges of students and teachers.
