INFLATION ON THE RISE
Consumer prices in France increased by 2.4% year-on-year in May, after 2.2% in April, following an acceleration in energy prices due to the continuation of the conflict in the Middle East, INSEE indicated this Friday.
Energy prices were notably driven by a rebound in gas prices (+11.3% after -3.1% the previous month), while inflation was also supported by the rise in service prices (+2.1% after +1.8% in April).
REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER OF AMERICAN PLANES IN EUROPE
According to a document seen by the New York Times, the United States plans to significantly reduce the number of planes and warships it makes available for NATO operations in Europe.
The planned withdrawals include a reduction in the number of F-16 and F-15E fighter jets from approximately 150 to 100 aircraft, or the removal of the eight aerial refueling aircraft previously available to Europe. For the moment, the Pentagon has not confirmed this information.
