New exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts: “Icons of Albania – Treasures of the National Museum of Medieval Art in Korça”

From Albania to Chambéry, an exceptional heritage to discover

Titles « Icons of Albania – Treasure of the National Museum of Medieval Art of Korea »this exhibition presents around fifty of the most precious works preserved by the National Museum of Medieval Art of Korea. Created between the Middle Ages and the modern era, these icons testify to the influence of tradition Byzantine in the Balkans and the extraordinary vitality of Albanian religious art.

Through a journey accessible to all, visitors are invited to discover the history, spirituality and beauty of these exceptional works. The exhibition also offers an original dialogue with contemporary photography thanks to the images of Albanian frescoes created by the photographer Wandrille Potez.

Cultural cooperation between Chambéry and Korça

This exhibition is part of the cooperation between the cities of Chambéry and Korça and constitutes one of the highlights of the Chambéry cultural season in Albania. It offers a unique opportunity to discover a little-known heritage and to admire in particular the one nicknamed the “Albanian Mona Lisa”one of the emblematic works of the exhibition.

An inauguration in the presence of a guest orchestra

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday June 13 at 11 a.m. in the presence of the Symphony Orchestra of the Albanian Armed Forces, marking the opening of this highlight of the Chamberian cultural season.
