Londonderry police officer hurt in crash on Hardy Road

A Londonderry police officer on a motorcycle was injured Thursday night in a crash on Hardy Road. According to officials, the crash happened around 6 p.m. while the officer was responding to a separate crash on Stonehenge Road. The officer was taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester and is in stable condition. Police said the driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Breslin said the crash was unfortunate but not entirely surprising. “Nothing against young people, but, you know, boom on the gas. It’s like a dragstrip, you know, motorcycles, you know, right to the floor,” he said. “Most of the time, you know, it’s nobody gets, it’s not accidents, but there’s the potential.” The crash remains under investigation by the Derry Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team.

Hardy Road was closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.
