He is seated on the large white steps which face the stage where he will perform this evening at the Charles-Gaou garden in Brignoles. A long silhouette shaken, at times, by tics. His body becomes paralyzed, uncontrollable. Gilles de la Tourette syndrome leaves him little respite, except when he sings. He is Jean-Baptiste Seguin, singer-songwriter revealed by the New star et France has incredible talent. The Boats are sitting the jury with its committed but optimistic texts, with its strength and determination. Talking about difference, learning to look at them differently is particularly close to his heart, so he did not hesitate when teachers asked him to lead writing workshops with their students. He accompanied them, forced to get out of their comfort zone This evening, at 8:30 p.m., they will be on stage with the artist for the presentation of their work.

You have been revealed by The New Star et France has incredible talentwhat consequences did these emissions have?

Après The New StarI did concerts in particular thanks to Patrik Cottet Moine. He is a musician and mime. He helped and encouraged me a lot to compose, to write, to go to the studio. I reached the final of France has incredible talent with my compositions. That’s cool. I was then able to record my album Mirage. I am accompanied by Valentin Vilcoq, guitarist and sound engineer for my album. All my instrumentations were done by Chiks luv us.

Music and you are a long story.

I started music at six years old, the age I was diagnosed. We noticed that I didn’t have any tics when I sang. During an appointment, the neurologist told me “write down everything you feelâ€. You wrote me Music syndrome on the train. Years later, it was with this song that I got Hélène Ségara’s golden buzzer.

How did you come to do these writing workshops?

The Jacques-Cestor de Brignoles media library contacted me via the Les Scènes association for this project around the book People are beautifulby Baptiste Beaulieu. He talks about difference, about inner beauty. This was the theme of the projects that the media library set up, particularly with the students of 3e art from Jean-Moulin College and a class from the Second Chance School (E2C).

How did you work with them?

I had them written. They worked well. Each class wrote a text: Reflections for E2C and Who I am for the 3es. Then we recorded them. Each student says a sentence. I wanted them to get something out of them. Young people are the sponges of our time, they needed it. I take them a little out of their comfort zone to force them to see the outside world. They were very generous. This Friday evening, they will be on stage with me, as an opening act for my concert, except that I will sing with them. It’s an opportunity and at the same time, it’s very hard. There is a lot of shyness but that’s normal.

You already spoke at the Fénelon high school in Toulon last year, what do you like about these meetings?

Indeed, I was contacted by a professor who had seen me on TV then in concert at the Le Colbert theater. I am now the godfather of the ST2S sector. I even handed over my Baccalaureate diploma in 2025. Culture, writing, music saved me. It has become my niche, it’s where I take refuge, it’s my moment of happiness. I think that art allows us to shine what we don’t necessarily see right away.

How did the students experience these weeks spent with you?

They may not realize it yet. But art makes us evolve. We acquire one maturity after another to see beyond the facade.

Yes, that reassures me. If we take young people at the right time, they can produce great things. Culture can avoid conflicts. I feel lucky because these times are very tough on phones. There are no more sincere looks. There, we show them real life.

Where are you in your career?

I’m self-producing so it’s a bit hard but I’ll never stop making music. Never.

Plus: The album Mirage is available on the platforms.

There are encounters that mark, stories that touch, experiences from which we do not emerge unscathed. For the students in the art class, the meeting with Jean-Baptiste Seguin is one of them, from the first day. “He played his songs, told his story, his goals, remembers Emy, student of 3e. It was very interesting because he made his difference a strength. HAS”

During the six writing sessions, the students did real thinking work. “The discussions were quite extensive, recognizes Clément Bouchy, head teacher. But, this work allowed the students to express beautiful and profound things. HAS” This is the strength of Jean-Baptiste Seguin who knew how to give the teenagers confidence. “Everyone was able to give their opinion, we listened to each other, renchérit Emy. Some people also revealed themselves and took their place in the class. We all accepted each other as we were. It strengthened our bonds. HAS”

Acceptance of others is at the heart of the theme chosen this year by the media library team as the guiding principle for their activities. “Every year, we have projects with schoolchildren, which we extend to the public, to give them the desire to attend this cultural place.”asks Mireille Mainguy, youth librarian.

A few hours before going on stage, the students were a little stressed but “We are proud of our work and of presenting ourselves with it. HAS”
