In Villevieille, everyone thinks they know Fontbouïsse, these Neolithic remains perched on the edge of a cliff on the Garenne plateau. This 5,000 year old site has been classified since 1979; he cannot be visited. He who gave his name to a Neolithic culture very widespread in the Mediterranean arc with a way of life, identical everyday objects and above all characteristic dry stone dwellings grouped in small hamlets.
At the request of the association for the Villevieille ASSV site, Luc Jallot will come and give a conference on the culture of Fontbouïsse. He actively participated in the excavations and reconstruction of the Cambous site in Viols-en-Laval. Luc Jallot is an archaeologist, professor specializing in the Neolithic period. He is a lecturer at the Paul Valéry University of Montpellier. The archaeological data relating to the culture of Fontbousse have marked archaeological research on the Neolithic. The best known and the best studied. The conference will take stock of this knowledge and its history, through the presentation of major sites in Gard and in neighboring departments.
