“Every diplomatic process is undermined by the use of force,” declared the spokesperson for Iranian diplomacy, pointing out the responsibility of the United States in “damaging” negotiations between the two countries.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said this Wednesday, June 10, that the United States had damaged ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war, after new American strikes against targets in southern Iran.
“Unfortunately, the United States is harming this diplomatic process by the contradictory messages it sends, its repeated changes of position and demands and, even worse, by its repeated violations of the ceasefire,” declared the spokesperson for Iranian diplomacy, Esmaïl Baghaï, in a video message relayed by the Iranian media.
“Every diplomatic process is undermined by the use of force and illegal actions on the ground,” he added.
An American response that occurred Tuesday evening
This Tuesday, June 9, the United States bombed Iran, after the attack on an American helicopter above the Strait of Hormuz a day earlier. Donald Trump had promised to respond in a “very strong” and “powerful” manner after accusing Tehran of being responsible for this attack.
This was followed by a new escalation in the region, with the targeting of American bases in Jordan and Bahrain by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Iran then pointed out the “responsibility” of the Gulf countries in the resumption of hostilities.
