The RN municipality of Castres (Tarn) is brutally cleaning up the cultural programming of the municipal theater. We learned this Tuesday that “Passport”, the play written and directed by Alexis Michalik, will not have the right to be presented to the public. It was featured in the next season and was to be played in February 2027.
The town hall, won last March by the National Rally, wasted no time in making its mark. On “Here Occitanie”, mayor Florian Azema attempted a justification, insisting on the fact that no contractual agreement had been signed by the previous municipality: “It is the role and prerogatives of elected officials to carry out cultural programming. After the right-wing municipality of Vanves, in the Paris region, which wanted to cancel the local cultural season before reversing course, the decision of Castres illustrates the desire for censorship that some elected officials are trying to implement.
