The Zanshin Karate Club (Zanshin KC) once again distinguished itself on the international scene during the Andorra International Open, held in Escaldes-Engordany, winning 6 medals.

With a remarkable record of six medals, including one gold, the club’s karatekas confirm the quality of their training and their constant progress. Bringing together around ten clubs from three nations – Andorra, Spain and France – this competition, although modest in size, offers young athletes a valuable opportunity to compete against foreign adversaries in a framework governed by the standards of the World Karate Federation (WKF).

For most of the nine competitors entered by Zanshin KC, this participation constituted a first international experience.

An important step welcomed by coach Christophe Behlert: “It was for most of them their first international experience and it is a strong marker to reward the achievements of our nine competitors entered for the occasion.”

The medals

The most dazzling performance came from Yannel Boulifa, crowned champion in the men’s child kumite category (-40 kg) and author of the delegation’s only gold medal.

In the same category, Loup Adonis took third place on the podium. The club’s other medalists also responded. Ethan Corraze won a bronze medal in junior men’s kumite (+52 kg), as did Hadrien Bories Bonnafe in junior men’s kumite (-70 kg) and Lilly Behlert in junior women’s kumite (+56 kg).

Among the women, Naomie Bruel completed the harvest by winning a nice silver medal in cadet kata. Overall, Zanshin KC leaves Andorra with a very positive result and encouraging prospects for the rest of the season. The club’s steering committee was pleased with these sporting results as well as the strong mobilization of the delegation, made up of 26 people between competitors and accompanying people, who made the trip to support the young karatekas. A great harvest which testifies to the dynamism of the club and the work accomplished by its young athletes and their management.
