Organized by the editorial offices of Groupe Le Monde and Nouvel Obs, the International Journalism Festival, which is celebrating its 10th this yeare edition, brings together the largest editorial staff in the world in all its plurality and diversity with players from the written press, TV, web and radio, accompanied by international colleagues. Information professionals and current affairs players are gathered to discuss with you, news and media enthusiasts, around the major subjects that drive our society and the role of the media in their coverage.
The Festival is built around seven major themes, broken down into debates, meetings and screenings.

Friday July 10
- 2:30 pm: “Cuba, Donald Trump’s last trophy?” » with Wimar
Already under American embargo since 1962, the island is suffocating under economic pressure from Washington, amplified by the cessation of Venezuelan oil deliveries following the kidnapping of Nicolas Maduro. How to live between the American hammer and the Castro anvil?

Saturday July 11
- 3:30 p.m.: “Press cartoonists under pressure” with Kak, Wimar and Coco
Modération : Antoine Bernard (RSF)
In a context marked by the rise of authoritarianism and the power of digital platforms, cases of threats against press cartoonists, identified by Cartooning for Peace in its latest rapportshed a harsh light on the state of democracy in the world.

Weakened by fake news, artificial intelligence and the numerous threats to press freedom, photojournalism and press cartoons are unique languages that share a common function: that of still image journalism. How does the dialogue between these images, imagined in the work “The Shift of the World» from Cartooning for Peace, tells us about the world and the times?

Sunday July 12
- 3 p.m.: “Press cartoonist, it’s a profession” workshop with Kak
Â
EXPOSITION
Throughout the Festival, the exhibition « Draw me the equality of genders » is offered to the public.
Illustrated by press cartoons from around the world, this exhibition retraces, with humor and commitment, the journey of a life: from birth to old age, it addresses the challenges and persistent problems in terms of inequality between genders, and shows the long fight of women for equal rights.

FRESCO
The cartoonists from Cartooning for Peace will meet you on Sunday July 12 at 10 a.m. to create live, with the young festival-goers, a collective (and humorous!) fresco on one of the themes of the Festival, chosen by the young people of the Val de Garonne Agglomeration.

P’TITE RÉDAC
Throughout the Festival, cartoonists from Cartooning for Peace will also work with young festival-goers to lead workshops within the P’tite Rédac.
