On March 26, 2026 at 8:10 pm, negotiations in embassies and ministries changed our common destiny. To showcase these historical moments, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs created the “Diplomatic Heritage” label in 2025.

The former “Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Navy” in Versailles is now the municipal library. Built in 1762, it houses original ornaments designed to impress ambassadors and visitors. It also held historical archives and documents of foreign policy.

Nearby, the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, ending WWI and creating the League of Nations, a precursor to the UN. The current “Quai d’Orsay” was also labeled in 2025, a historic building constructed from 1845-1855 to house the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

QR codes on plaques provide insights into the historical significance of these sites. About ten locations receive this label annually. The Treaty of Paris in 1951, establishing the European Coal and Steel Community, was also signed in France.
