Kuwait International Airport was hit by Iranian drones on Wednesday, causing damage and injuries, according to a statement from the Kuwaiti Defense Ministry. Authorities have suspended and diverted flights “until further notice.”
According to Defense Ministry spokesperson Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, the drones described as “hostile” struck the main passenger terminal (T1), causing “significant” damage to the building and injuring several people, who received treatment medical.
He added that the Kuwaiti armed forces are “monitoring the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities” and remain on high alert to deal with any developments.
Furthermore, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation announced the activation of an emergency plan at the airport following the incident.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched attacks targeting US bases in Kuwait after a US strike on the southern Iranian island of Qeshm.
