Vehicle pursuit ends after suspect crashes into tree near Lakewood Blvd in East Naples, deputies say
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —
A suspect was taken into custody after crashing into a tree and jumping into a pond in East Naples, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.
Floyd Wiley Stuck, 41, was wanted for multiple violent felonies out of Lee County, and CCSO helped track him to East Naples after he fled from an earlier attempted stop.
According to CCSO, Stuck was located near Davis Road and Lakewood Boulevard, and as deputies tried to serve a Lee County warrant, Stuck fled in a U-Haul van.
Deputies deployed stop sticks, and Stuck crashed into a tree near Lakewood Boulevard and Boca Ciega Drive and fled on foot, according to CCSO. Deputies said Stuck jumped into a nearby pond before he came back to shore and surrendered to a K-9 deputy.
According to the sheriff’s office, Stuck was wanted on three warrants out of Lee County stemming from a Tuesday night incident. Lee County deputies conducted a traffic stop on Stuck after the incident on Tuesday, but CCSO said he fled, and deputies found him Wednesday morning, which led to the pursuit and crash.
Stuck was taken to the Naples Jail Center to be booked and is facing a charge of fleeing and eluding law enforcement. CCSO said he will be transported to Lee County for his warrants there.
