Tourisme Montréal is proud to announce that Fanny Beaulieu Cormier, senior sustainable development advisor, was selected among the four global finalists of the Changemaker Award of the prestigious GDS Awards 2026.

The only finalist in North America in this category, she joins a very select group of international leaders who are shaping the future of sustainable tourism. The winners will be revealed at the GDS Awards gala to be held on June 17 in Poland.

The Changemaker Award rewards a professional who actively contributes to advancing regenerative tourism within their destination and who transforms collaborative ideas into concrete and sustainable changes.

“I dedicate my career to sustainable tourism. This nomination is an immense source of pride that testifies to the work accomplished with our partners to evolve Montreal tourism towards a more sustainable, inclusive model that brings positive benefits for the community. The strategic alliances aimed at protecting biodiversity, local sourcing, inclusive and indigenous tourism, as well as raising visitor awareness particularly excite me and continue to promote our harmonious destination.”, underlines Fanny Beaulieu Cormier.

Fanny Beaulieu Cormier plays a key role in the transformation of tourism practices in Montreal. She notably contributed to the deployment of Tourisme Montréal’s Harmonious Destination strategy, launched in 2022 and rewarded with a Mercure at the Mercuriades Gala. In addition to her role at Tourisme Montréal, she also acts as a trainer for the World Sustainable Tourism Council, further recognition of her expertise in the field.

Created by the GDS Index, the GDS Awards reward each year destinations and leaders who stand out for their exemplary practices in sustainable tourism. The ceremony brings together more than a hundred international players in the tourism industry.

The other finalists in the Changemaker Award category are:

  • Jac Callan, Visit Belfast (Northern Ireland)
  • Petra StuÅ¡ek, Ljubljana Tourism (Slovakia)
