Four years ago, Pierre Montarnal and Wilfrid Ponthieux created their store “Tous en saddle” in Ceint d’Eau, on the banks of the Drauzou. Pierre, a former military aircraft mechanic on the Hyères base, who after 12 years returned to Figeac to join Figeac Aéro for a year, before going to exercise his talent with a cycle merchant in Grand-Figeac. Wilfrid had been in the automotive sector for 20 years, sales director at Peugeot in the Paris region, before experiencing a furious desire for a much calmer and more composed life. Having a country house in Gréalou, the place of retirement became obvious.
“We met at the Béduer mountain bike club where we are both licensed,” they explain in one voice. “Whether on the paths or on the roads, we often found ourselves together, and we talked quite a bit. We still practice, but now, more in leisure mode. It’s over the course of a few discussions that we came up with the idea of setting up a joint business. But after four years in Ceint d’Eau, the two men decided to move closer to the city, and are now located a stone’s throw from the center, in their new structure “Culture Vélo” on avenue Joseph Loubet. “Bringing us closer to Figeac, yes, but not at any price, insists Pierre Montarnal. We didn’t want a commercial area, and when the opportunity presented itself to set up here, we didn’t hesitate. We are practically in the heart of the town, and that gives us a local clientele that we We didn’t necessarily have to Ceint-d’Eau”.
“Culture Vélo”, remains in the philosophy of “All in the saddle”, by offering frames for everyone at all prices. “We work mainly with Trek, Crussis and many others,” adds Wilfrid Ponthieux. “We also offer quick repairs, repairs and second-hand goods. And we are open Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a short break at noon.”
