The announcement of its closure in November 2025 caused excitement among music lovers. In the store, customers lamented seeing an institution disappear. A desolation which did not last very long since the Paul Beuscher music store reopens its doors this Tuesday, June 2, 2026, with a new concept between instrument sales, studios, violin making workshop and coworking space, indicated its new direction to theAFP.
Buy, discover, meet, repair…
“ It’s a house of music, a place where you can buy, discover, meet as much as repair…,” declared Céline Gaillard, general director and partner of this new version of Paul Beuscher. The brand, taken over by a specialized investor in cosmetics and clothing, retains its historic location on Boulevard Beaumarchais (4th), near Place de la Bastille.
@actu.paris 🔴 The end of a large house in Paris: located at 27-29 boulevard Beaumarchais, in the 4th arrondissement, the historic Paul Beuscher musical instrument store definitively ceased its activity without warning, Friday November 7, 2025. A heartbreak for all the amateurs and professionals who have parade since its creation… one hundred and seventy-five years ago. Competition from the Internet, but also rent prices in the capital are not unrelated to the fall of this institution, whose reputation is due as much to its exceptional fund as to the pedagogy which was instilled there. Seven months earlier, the institution had drawn the curtain after 175Â ans d’existenceduring which generations of music lovers and stars paraded, such as Jimi Hendrix and Édith Piaf. Created by a luthier and initially specializing in the accordion, the brand was able to evolve with the times, before facing competition from platforms online and their low-cost instruments.
Concert hall, sale of instruments…
From now on, it is available in several spaces covering a total of approximately 2 000 m²thanks to the development of a large part previously dedicated to storage. The place still offers the sale of instruments, including guitars and pianos, sheet music and even a selection of vinyls, but is also opening a collaborative violin making workshop, available to customers, explained Céline Gaillard.
A small concert hall approximately 70 places will accommodate regular programming, as well as studios and rehearsal sets installed in the basement, planned to be operational in the fall, added this trained musician. At the same time, the address was equipped with a coworking space in order to mix different professional and musical worlds, she said.
