Despite the ceasefire in force between Iran and the United States, the two countries have not silenced their weapons. In a press release broadcast by Iranian state media, the Revolutionary Guards announced, Monday June 1, that they had targeted a base used by the American army, without specifying its location. “The United States is also violating the ceasefire, including this morning,” declared the spokesperson for Iranian diplomacy, Esmaïl Baghaï, during a press conference.

For its part, the American army announced on Sunday evening that it had carried out a new wave of strikes “défensives” on southern Iran, the third in just over a week. These bombings targeted radar and drone control systems in the city of Goruk and the island of Qeshm in the Strait of Hormuz, the US Middle East Command said on X.

The announcement of these Iranian strikes comes shortly after Kuwait declared it was facing a drone and missile attack against its territory. “Any explosion noise is the result of air defense systems intercepting these hostile attacks”specified the army on X, without specifying its origin. The small Gulf country “holds Iran fully responsible for these heinous attacks”, a aussitôt déclaré the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release.

During his speech on Monday morning, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also denounced a violation of the truce in Lebanon by Israel. As the Israeli army strikes positions of Hezbollah, Tehran’s ally, Esmaïl Baghaï reaffirmed that a ceasefire in Lebanon constitutes “an essential condition for any agreement to end the war” with the United States.
