In Millau, Artec was selected to manage the current and future cinema expected in 2028 in the premises of the Ayrolle wasteland, until 2031.
The municipal council has officially chosen Artec to manage the Millavois cinema, current and then future, until July 31, 2031. A decision motivated by an offer deemed more realistic and financially prudent, thus ensuring the continuity of the local cultural project.
A two-step contract
The particularity of this market lies in its double temporality: Artec will first manage the current cinema until the end of 2028, then the new cinema complex from its construction, scheduled for 2029. “We will therefore have two types of cinema, the current one until the end 2028, then the new one from July 1, 2026 until July 31, 2031”, specifies Jean-Claude Zago, the elected official in charge of the file.
A “more balanced” offer
Two candidates were in the running: Artec and Cinepic. After an in-depth analysis, the commission selected Artec, whose offer obtained 82.7 points out of 100, compared to 73.2 for Cinepic. “The two offers were technically very close, with minimal differences on the criteria”, explains Jean-Claude Zago. “On the other hand, on the financial side, Artec was distinguished by a more realistic and cautious approach.”
The differences came down in particular to the financial compensation requested from the community: €277,000 for Artec, compared to €475,000 for Cinepic. “Artec is much more modest and more cautious, and that fits more with the reality of Millavois cinema,” underlines the elected official. “Their offer is more logical, especially taking into account the years of transition between the old and the new cinema.”
The choice of continuity
This decision was welcomed by the majority as well as by the opposition, who see it as a guarantee of stable and lasting management of the project. “We are satisfied to see the continuity of the cinema project, a very beautiful project of general interest, has been congratulated Sandrine Peyretout. Artec is a delegatee with whom we have worked very well in recent years, and the reasons which led us to choose it five years ago remain valid today.”
If the choice of the delegate is confirmed, the details of the new cinema complex with 500 seats for an estimated cost of 4.2 million euros still remain under discussion.
“We cannot yet go into details, because negotiations are underway,” says Mayor Christophe Saint-Pierre. But very soon, we will have the opportunity to present the selected project and discuss how it works.”
