The Villefranche-de-Rouergue cinema hosted, for the third time, an original conference organized by the USP. Students from Raymond-Savignac, Saint-Joseph and François-Marty high schools, in first and final year classes, presented, individually or collectively, presentations on subjects that were close to their hearts.

A real educational opportunity

The themes covered were varied. Spectators were able to go behind the scenes of Formula 1, a race reserved for an elite, and discover the fight of women for their freedom in Afghanistan, illustrated by poignant testimonies from four women.

This project, which mobilized students throughout the school year, notably included interviews in English. Finally, a reflection on love in the future raised many questions about the way in which it will be experienced, a subject which particularly resonated with today’s youth. The large audience was able to appreciate the work of the students as well as the pleasure they had in transmitting their ideas, sometimes not without oratorical talent.

This experience will encourage other students to perform in front of an audience. It represents an enriching educational opportunity on several levels: research, sorting of information, formatting, writing and oral expression. The students also learned to work collectively.

The evening concluded with a meal at the restaurant offered by USP. This friendly moment allowed us to salute the work of the students and to thank the teachers involved. USP officials have announced that they will most likely hold this event again next year.
