Israeli army carries out intense strikes on the city of Tire in southern Lebanon

The Israeli army carried out violent strikes on the coastal city of Tire in southern Lebanon this Sunday, claiming to target “Hezbollah infrastructure”. According to an AFP correspondent on site, this was the most intense bombing recorded in the city since the start of the conflict, with several buildings having been completely destroyed.

The majority of residents have left the city. Only a few thousand people still remain there, often grouped together in the rare areas not affected by Israeli evacuation orders. Many would now spend their nights in their vehicles. Despite the bombings, Tire’s three hospitals continue to operate. The Lebanese Ministry of Health indicates, however, that thirteen employees of the Hiram hospital were injured during a strike that occurred near the establishment.

At the same time, Hezbollah claimed to have fired projectiles towards several Israeli positions in northern Israel. The Israeli army assures that most were intercepted or fell in uninhabited areas.

The UN Security Council will meet urgently on Monday after the Israeli advance in Lebanon

The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Monday at the request of France, after the capture by the Israeli army of the Beaufort Fortress, an emblematic site located in southern Lebanon, according to diplomatic sources cited by AFP.

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, justified this initiative by estimating that, if Israel has the right to defend itself against Hezbollah attacks, “nothing can justify” the continuation of Israeli military operations and an “increasingly deep” presence on the territory. Iran reopens bombed underground missile bases

According to an analysis of satellite images relayed by CNN, Iran has undertaken to put back into service several underground missile bases targeted in recent weeks by American and Israeli strikes. Tehran has already reopened at least 50 access points spread across 18 military sites.

The bombings mainly targeted tunnel entrances, access roads and launch infrastructure in order to hinder the use of Iranian missiles and launchers. But the work observed on site raises questions about the long-term effectiveness of this strategy.

According to CNN, the United States is continuing its assessments to determine how much of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities remain operational. Several experts believe that the most deeply buried installations remain particularly difficult to neutralize by air strikes and that attacks on access often only temporarily slow down operations.
