What the press now nicknames “the Patrick Bruel affair” continues to rebound day after day. This Friday, May 29, the singer notably announced his withdrawal from the Enfoirés troupe, a first for the man who had not missed a single show in thirty-four years of unfailing loyalty. A decision which has the effect of an earthquake in the artistic world and which marks a brutal turning point in the career of an artist once adored by millions of fans. “Given the circumstances, I have decided not to put any of you in any embarrassment. I therefore wanted to tell you, with great sadness, that I will not be with you next January, as it was the case for 34 years I hope to find you again when justice has proven my innocence”, confided Patrick Bruel to his comrades of the Enfoirés in a message sent personally.

And today, a new turnaround: Patrick Bruel is giving up all of his summer concerts, i.e. around fifteen festival dates, his production company announced. Among them, the concerts planned for June 16 at the Cirque d’hiver in Paris, which will ultimately not be held. “In the interest of appeasement and responsibility, Patrick Bruel is taking the decision, in agreement with the festival organizers, to cancel the concerts planned from June to September,” assured 14 Productions. “We are making this decision for the public, and for the festivals. After 30 years of collaboration with some, we do not wish to disturb the serenity of these events or their volunteers, and we want the public to be able to fully enjoy these events,” adds the company. The press release specifies, however, that Patrick Bruel, who contests all the facts with which he is accused, is “free to exercise his profession” and that the public is “free to go or not to his concerts”.
A decision that relieves the victims
A decision which in any case relieves Karine Viseur. This woman, who filed a complaint for sexual assault at the end of March for alleged acts dating from 2010 in Brussels, reacted with emotion to the announcement: “I have a weight that has disappeared, that gives a lot more energy for the future. Knowing that we have been heard after having lived almost three very difficult months. For the moment, Patrick Bruel is keeping his October tour, but it’s already huge that he cancels all his concerts between June and September. She also spoke about the cancellation of the concert planned for the Bastogne festival, in Belgium. “I feel that there will be a lot of sadness on the part of the fans, but they will see things differently,” she slipped, before concluding with determination: “If it comes to this, it’s because it was time to act. So much venom has been thrown at us over the past few weeks, we will have more, but it’s a real satisfaction tonight.
