Ibrahima Konate will not extend his contract at Liverpool and will be free from any contract this summer. This is what talkSPORT and Sky Sports in England reveal.
The Frenchman has not found common ground to extend his contract, which runs until June 30. There was a positive trend in April and advanced discussions, but ultimately the agreement was not concluded. The player even confirmed this on April 20: “We are close to an agreement. There is a good chance that I will be there next year. That’s what I always wanted.”
The complicated end of Liverpool’s season, which nevertheless finished fifth in the Premier League, slowed down discussions. Several big clubs tried to convince him by opening much more concrete negotiations.
Arriving at the Reds in July 2021, the Parisian will put an end to a five-year chapter. In the Liverpool jersey, Ibrahima Konaté played no less than 183 matches in all competitions. The central defender scored seven goals and delivered four decisive assists.
Several European clubs are interested
