A man has barricaded himself inside of the Hale Boggs Federal Building in New Orleans

Two windows have been broken on the eighth floor of the Hale Boggs Federal Building

RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN SEE IT THERE. A CHAOTIC SCENE AT FEDERAL COURT THIS EVENING AS A MAN BREAKS A WINDOW AND STARTS THROWING THINGS OUT OF IT WHILE SHOUTING. NOPD HAS NOW IDENTIFIED THE MAN AS DWIGHT AMBROSE. POLICE SAY THEY WERE EVENTUALLY ABLE TO SUBDUE A BLOODY AND NAKED AMBROSE AFTER OFFICERS TASED HIM. WDSU REPORTER CASSIE SCHERM HAS MORE ON THE SITUATION. IT TOOK NEARLY AN HOUR TO GET A BARRICADED MAN OUT OF FEDERAL COURT. IN FACT, RIGHT HERE WHERE THAT FLAG IS BACK BEHIND ME HERE. THAT IS WHERE THAT MAN WAS ON THE EIGHTH FLOOR, WHERE HE BROKE THROUGH THE WINDOWS, THREW THINGS DOWN LIKE TVS, A DESK, AND MULTIPLE OTHER ITEMS WHILE PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY WALKING OUT OF FEDERAL COURT. NOW, AT ONE POINT, SECURITY ACTUALLY STOPPED PEOPLE FROM GOING THROUGH THERE AS THEY WERE TRYING TO GET HIM OUT OF THERE. FINALLY, NOPD GOT TO THE SCENE AND THEY ENTERED THE OTHER AREA, ONE OF THE OTHER ENTRANCES TO FEDERAL COURT, AND WERE ABLE TO APPREHEND HIM. BUT DURING THIS ENTIRE TIME, IT TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR JUST TO GET HIM OUT OF THIS BUILDING HERE. AND IT'S LEAVING A LOT OF QUESTIONS FOR PEOPLE ON ONE, HOW DID THIS MAN GET INTO THIS FEDERAL BUILDING? AND ALSO, WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO REMOVE HIM? WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO KEEP ON ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS. REPORTING HERE AT FEDERAL COURT. I'M CASSIE SCHERM WDSU NEWS. Two windows have been broken on the eighth floor of the Hale Boggs Federal Building Friday afternoon. A man was seen throwing miscellaneous items out to the sidewalk, including chairs and a filing cabinet glass.Friday night, the NOPD identified the suspect as Dwight Armbrus. It is unclear why or how he entered the building on Poydras Street. The Federal Building closed at 6 p.m., but the man remained inside. It took over an hour to remove him from the building. Officers say Armbrus refused commands once they arrived and they deployed a Taser. He was seen by WDSU crews apparently sedated and taken out of the building on a stretcher. The New Orleans Police Department says he has minor injuries and is at the hospital for evaluation before he is booked. He will face a charge of simple criminal damage to property.
