The Macadam’Art urban cultures festival will return to L’Union on Saturday May 30, from 5 p.m.
Organized jointly by the MJCs of L’Union and Saint-Jean, the free event will offer until the evening demonstrations, initiations and shows mixing hip-hop, street art, circus, skateboarding and even capoeira.
For several months, facilitators, volunteers and young people from the two partner structures worked on the preparation of this new edition of Macadam’Art.
The MJC Saint-Jeannaise and Unionaise are not their first attempt. Each year, this festival dedicated to “all that concrete has done best” some would say, is organized alternately within one of the two municipalities. For the 2026 edition, San Biagio Square will provide its setting for artists specializing in urban disciplines.
From the end of the afternoon, the square will be transformed into a vast open-air stage. The public will be able to attend demonstrations of hip-hop, scratching or graffiti with the artist Massa, discover capoeira with the Ginga Nagô So association, observe the performances of the Session 3.6 riders or even try street workouts with Toulbar’z. But the spirit of Macadam Art is that of openness and claims its accessible and intergenerational dimension. Thus, workshops will allow everyone, whatever their age, to try out the disciplines on display, such as circus, graffiti, street work out, skateboarding, a fablab, capoeira, hip-hop and other discoveries.
Then at nightfall, the festival will take on a more spectacular dimension with “Street Soul Train”, a creation mixing funk, hip-hop dance and live music.
Carried by a resolutely festive energy, the show will take over the public space like an immense popular dance floor. The evening will end with a fire and circus performance proposed by the artists Loudelune and Catas’Tof. MJC volunteers will provide a refreshment bar throughout the duration of the festival. This free event open to all promotes urban cultures. Here, the street becomes a place of artistic expression, meeting and discovery.
